Quilting, cross stitch, and knitting, oh my!

I finally got around to scanning in some of the cross stitch projects I've worked on here and there. They don't have a lot of progress to speak of, but they do have some, and I thrive on progress pics, so here they are - Aurora, Jingle Bells Xmas Tree Farm, and Unicorn Mystique.

The past several weeks, I have been consumed by quilting. Well, okay, with piecing quilt tops. I have hand-quilted the Flannel 4 patch some - I think I'm about 75% through with the quilting on it. But mostly, I've worked on Christopher's quilt top, and in the evenings, I've pulled out my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt and worked on it quite a bit.

I've also been planning future quilts. I have gotten just about all the fabrics I'll need for both Delaney's and Tori's full-size quilts. But I really need to get back to my Double Wedding Ring quilt, so that will be my main focus after Chris's Bear Chase is complete. And my Cocoa Bling Kitty quilt will probably come after that. :)

I also recently started another knit cap for myself, using some turquoise and brown yarn (love that color combo lately!). This yarn is knitting up in a really neat color pattern, totally unplanned. I'm doing the same rib knit I used for the first one.

Well, I'm back off to the sewing room to work some more on the sashing units and border units for Christopher's Bear Chase. Soon I should be able to start assembly!

Vacation Quilting

Just before my vacation, I realized that I had incorrectly pieced the claws onto the paws in the four blocks that I had put together. They were not supposed to match the paw, so on April 17, while watching several episodes of 24, I 'unsewed' them.

Oops - unsewing

April 18 - a day of piecing half-square triangles and getting them into the claw units.

April 19 - Bear Paw units!

Bear paws galore

April 20 - The Bear Paw blocks are finished (20 + 1 for a pillow), and I've started assembling the sashing units.

The weekend and my first day of vacation

Over the weekend, I went and picked up my block of the month from the Quilter's Attic. Of course, I made it up as soon as I got home. The pattern is Jacob's Ladder, and though I've never made it before, it has always been a favorite of mine.

I also worked on my Afternoon Tea Block of the Month, and finished two versions of the fifth block.

Today started my week of vacation, and I celebrated by going with a friend to the Stitcher's Garden, another quilt shop. I haven't been there in several years. I got the fabrics I plan to use for setting and sashing my Afternoon Tea quilt, fabrics I'll use in my Cocoa Bling Kitty quilt, and a couple of other odds and ends.

Some more Michael Miller fabric, just because it's pretty and brightMore fabrics for my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt

Now I'm heading back to listen to my book on CD (One for the Money by Janet Evanovich) and do a little more piecing before C gets home. Tomorrow I plan to work on Christopher's Bear Chase!

Two updates

I've worked some more on a couple of cross stitch WIPs, and here are my recent progress pictures. First is Aurora (my Black Swan Sundays project), and next is Magnificent Wizard. The more I work on him, the more I think how magnificent he is (the dragon, anyway - I haven't gotten to the wizard yet). :)

In quilting, I've worked on CC's Blankie #2, and I'm officially past the halfway mark in its quilting. No new pictures though. And the other day I spent a little time working on Christopher's Bear Chase quilt. I'm hoping to spend quite a bit of time on it the week I'm on vacation - it's official, I'm taking off April 16-20, and I already have one book on CD lined up for listening while I sew, sew, sew. I'm going to play like I'm retired. :)
