Done, done, done!

Okay, so I worked 14 hours today, but our project is done!! I am so happy and proud, and I think they're even supposed to talk about it on the news tonight. It was truly a team effort, everyone contributed some unique part to it, and it was thousands of pages. I probably shouldn't brag, but we really accomplished a lot, making it easier to use, and more accessible, and I just want to share it with you. A couple of new stash acquisitions

I stopped by the Stitchin Post yesterday on my way home from work, just to see if they had a little chili pepper charm or button. They didn't, but Pat ordered one for me (for my little chili pepper heart), and I decided to take a look around for a couple of minutes. I ended up with 5 more of the little Sweetheart Tree hearts (bringing my total of ones-to-do up to 11) and a couple of cat charts: Permin of Copenhagen's Little Cats, and The Stitcher's Habit's A Tail of Two Kitties. Yes, indeed, I should be known as the "Crazy Cat Lady".

One week countdown on our huge work project! I'm so excited, and I can't wait for it. And I'm trying to decide what week I want to take off in April. I'm thinking something maybe mid- to late- month. I may actually take some time to read a book!

It's the weekend, and I've worked some more on my pink and brown quilt block of the month, Afternoon Tea. I was finally able to get Block 4's three variations finished. And I pulled out Magnificent Wizard and was working on his dragon's wing again last night. Tomorrow is Black Swan Sunday, so I shall be working on Aurora again. And I'm looking forward to taking a fresh look at my rotation, which I haven't actually done since September, I think.

Thank you

Thanks to everyone for your sympathies. Any death is hard, and Midnight's is no exception.

I am starting to see the glimmer at the light of the tunnel on the huge work project I've been consumed with the past several months (and actually a lot of the end of last year before the surgery). I finished a major component of the project today, and let me tell you, I felt a real sense of satisfaction. Our deadline is looming, and I believe that we will be ready! At least with Phase 1. :) The good news is that Phase 2 will not require the overtime and I should be able to take a vacation! I'm looking forward to some serious downtime. Quilts and cross stitch and crochet, oh my! And maybe some reading that doesn't involve html and css and usability and accessibility. :)

I finally have a cross stitch update I promised probably a couple of weeks ago. I was able to scan Autumn Maiden this afternoon, so I can share her progress with you now. The weekend is here, and it's a little chilly, so I'm going to stay inside and keep warm by working on C's blankie number two, my Black Swan Sundays project Aurora, and playing God of War II with C. :)

Another heart and a quilt block

This one may be my quickest one yet - Bleeding Hearts heart. Started on the 9th and finished on the 10th.

Bleeding Hearts heart

I substituted a heart bead I had on hand for the charm designated in the chart, and I used Kreinik 001HL #4 braid instead of the 001P silver cable blending filament. Other modifications include using a Dinky Dyes silk (from a grab bag, color unknown) instead of the Needle Necessities floss and backstitching the bleeding hearts flowers with 3802 instead of the green used in the flowers (which is what the design designated, and I just didn't want to backstitch the flowers with green. I used my handy-dandy DMC floss chart to find the next darkest color in that color family. :)

I also finished up my March block for the SSS quilt, one of my favorite blocks, Log Cabin (and I LOVE the colors).

I'll be heading off to work on Aurora for Black Swan Sundays now and mentally prepare for the workweek ahead.

Super Second Saturday!

Yes, it's that time again - I'll be going to my quilt shop this morning to pick up my March quilt block. I'm excited about it - I don't think I've touched my quilt tops in progress since last month this time...

I'm a little nervous about moving to Blogger 2 - apparently it's out of beta finally, and apparently it's no longer optional. We'll see how it goes when I try to post this today. :)

In Cross Stitch - I finished the Flaming Chili Peppers heart. I say finished, but I haven't added the charm because I don't have anything on hand that even comes close to looking like a chili pepper. I haven't decided if I am going to purchase the charm designated in the chart or if I am going to try to find a different chili pepper charm or bead, which is why it seems like there is a hole in the stitching - I wanted to go ahead and scan it before it's 100% 'done'. Oh, and last night, I started Bleeding Hearts heart. Happy weekend!!

A little Autumn in Winter

Acorns in Autumn, that is. Another little Sweetheart Tree - have I mentioned how much I love these little designs? I'd love to make them into a little book or something. Of course, I don't have all of them, and probably wouldn't be able to come up with one for "each season" but I think that would be something different anyway... This one I did on a scrap of 28 ct. beige linen, and I substituted a ceramic leaf bead that I had on hand for the silver leaf charm designated.

Acorns in Autumn

I will be taking a new photo of Autumn Maiden (Maidens of the Season) pretty soon - it's easy on the eyes and easy on the brains, so I've been stitching on it a little in the evenings the past couple of weeks. I also quilted on C's blankie #2 Sunday, and it's almost half-quilted now.

Thanks again for coming around even though I haven't been posting as much lately - I appreciate it!
