Thursday I went to my quilt guild's Sit n Sew because they were teaching a class on French Braid runners. I picked fabrics from my stash for two and got them both pieced in the class (most everyone else did one, and quilted it there). I quilted one of mine today, and here are the results.
I still have the other one to quilt (it's a little shorter than this one), hopefully I'll get it done in the next week or so.
Except that this time it wasn't me. On Friday night, C's tooth (which is scheduled for a root canal) became abscessed. I don't believe I have ever seen him more miserable, and we ended up having to take him to the emergency room Sunday morning. Then he reacted to the pain medication, and we've had a terrible time getting him over that. It's a hard thing to watch someone be miserable and not be able to do much to help.
Because he's been so sick, I had to take off a couple of days to take care of him (and make sure he didn't get sicker). I've spent some of the time stitching and some reading when he was able to get in some sleep himself. I finished up WPQ square #4, and I have been putting a few more stitches into Cherry Blossom Waterfall. I want to stitch a bit more on it before I take a new progress picture. Here is the WPQ square, happy dance #4 of 16.
I've ordered a few charms to attach inside the squares that are like this, and I'm looking forward to getting those on. I'll try to remember to post a new picture when I get them done.
Tomorrow is my quilt guild's Sit n Sew, and we're going to be doing French Braid runners. I've been wanting to do one ever since I saw a beautiful blue French Braid quilt at the Quilter's Attic in Goodlettsville, probably over a year ago. I decided I would do it from my stash, and even though I have (in my opinion) quite a stash, it was really hard to pull a good "braid run". I'd pull a few fabrics, and one just would stick out. Then I'd substitute a fabric, and then suddenly color of another would be off. I think I've finally hit upon two runs that I like, so I'm going to take both of them to work on. I hope I like how my choices turn out. I'm also very interested to see what color runs everyone else chose.
Okay, time to go check how hubby's doing. Hope everyone else is having a great week!
I finished Chatelaine's Waterlily Pond Quilt block number 3 tonight (and of course, had to put a couple of stitches in block 4). So far I think each one is lovelier than the previous one stitched, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they all look in the end. I'll definitely need to find some complementary fabric to show them off to their full potential when I put them into a quilt-wallhanging.
Here is February's block of the month. I really do love the colors of this chocolate and cream colorway, and it's hard not to have a piece of chocolate when I make these blocks. :)
I think I'm going to read a little before going to sleep. Having a Kindle can be a little hazardous to your wallet. :) But it's so enjoyable - I'm reading so much more than I have in the last few years because it's so convenient.
First I'd like to congratulate my Pittsburgh Steelers for their 6th SuperBowl title. I watched up until the middle of the 4th quarter of the game, at which time I got really, really sick. It was probably a stomach virus, not food poisoning, because C and I ate the same thing for supper, although I did have some ice cream for dessert. It knocked me for a loop to put it mildly. I didn't even get to go to my Quilt Guild meeting this month. :(
Monday I had to have the heating and air guys come out to check out the system (which is 23 years old). Fortunately, it only needed freon, so we put off replacement of the system a little while longer.
Tuesday I had to have a root canal. I was afraid I would have to, but hopeful that I wouldn't. I had a temporary crown put on the previous Thursday, and the tooth just was not settling down - quite the opposite, in fact.
I finally made it back to work on Thursday, and just this weekend have really felt like doing much in the way of stitching. I did manage to take some pictures of cross stitch projects that I had worked on in January though! Here are Celestial Dragon and Mother's Arms progress.
I am just now putting on the beads for WPQ square #2, so I should have a new picture to share very soon. I'll be stitching on it tonight while we catch up on our weekly recorded tv shows. :) Here's hoping this week will be nice and quiet.
