July's progress on a couple of projects

I've been working on part 2 of Desert Landscapes Mandala. Like part 1, there's a lot to this one, so I don't think I'm even halfway through. But I love the soft colors so far.

I'm also working on the Mill Hill Log Cabin Quilt, and here's the latest.

And finally, I acquired a new "toy" a few weeks ago. The opportunity to buy a used Bernina Aurora 440 QE came up, and I decided to go ahead and buy it. My main reason is the BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator). I took a quilting class a few years ago, and we used machines with the BSR. At the time, it was so very different from what I'd been used to that I didn't really appreciate it. I have often thought I'd like the chance to try it again, but I couldn't really justify shopping for another machine, especially knowing how much Berninas cost. When the opportunity came up to buy the machine from a friend, I just couldn't pass it up.

So yesterday I finally had the chance to sit down and familiarize myself with my new machine. I couldn't wait very long before I attached the BSR and played around quilting with it. After about 30 minutes of play, I pulled out the baby quilt I had sandwiched and ready to go, and in a few hours, I had it quilted! Here's a pic of me working on it. Now I just need to make and attach the binding. I'll be using my Pfaff for that because of the IDT. :)

Diamond Delight VI, left diamond finished

I really love the shading on the filling stitches in this diamond.

I've been working on assembling all the clues for the MCQG Mystery quilt, so once I send out those instructions to my quilt guild, I'll reveal the mystery here.

Desert Landscapes Mandala, part 1

I've been working quite a bit on my Desert Landscapes Mandala recently, and finally finished part one last night! Even though I've stitched other Chatelaine designs, I am just so amazed at the intricacies of them. Now I need to get to work on Autumn Fairy - I have the feeling I'm going to fall behind (with so many things going on), as much as I wanted to keep up... I'm sure no one else has had that problem, right? :)

I also managed to make a necklace over the holiday weekend with a "mood bead" that I picked up at my local bead shop, Be Dazzled. I thought a daisy chain would go well with it, and struggled with colors before coming up with this multi-color combination.

MCQG Mystery Quilt, parts 6 and 7

I was so busy in June doing other things that I forgot to post the Clue #6 photo, so here are both 6 and 7 this time. Clue #6 was some bias-curved blocks (almost like Cathedral Window), and clue #7 is the Tree of Life block.

We're almost through with our mystery quilt - the next clue is putting it all together! And I've got a little bit of work ahead of me to get those instructions written! I've already heard back from one quilter regarding my instructions for the Tree of Life block, and she said her block turned out well, so that's good!!! :)
