Spring Fairy, part 2

After about a half hour of frantically searching for my bead pack, only to find it right there with the chart and silks... I finished part 2 of Chatelaine's Spring Fairy - bring on part 2 of Autumn Fairy!!! :)

Finished Moonlit Kitties!

While I was listening to my latest audiobook download, I finished Moonlit Kitties today. I love this little design and can't wait to frame it and hang it on my Halloween wall in my craft room. :)

Moonlit Kitties, day 10

Getting there!

I've been concentrating on this one, and Desert Landscapes Mandala and Spring Fairy this month. More pictures to come.

Oh, and I've decided that the next Mill Hill kits I stitch - I'm going to sub out fabric for the perforated paper. It is just too difficult on my hands and wrists to stitch on the paper. I much prefer fabric, and I have plenty I can use as substitutes for their kits. I've already bought 2 more (Melody and Log Cabin Quilt from the same collection as Moonlit Kitties), and I plan to purchase 2 more from the Winter 2011 collection (Winter Woods and Believe).

One Block Wonder - top finished!

Feels like I haven't gotten anything done lately, but here is my One Block Wonder quilt top finished! I decided I just wanted two strips of the original fabric on either side of the quilt, so I came up with these simple borders. Now I need to piece the backing fabric so it will be ready to take to my longarm quilter - I won't be quilting this one myself. I think it just needs an allover design in a thread color that blends with the fabrics.

Stacked Coins baby quilt top #2

I finally finished piecing together the quilt top and back for the 2nd stacked coins baby quilt. This is my favorite, and the first one is DH's favorite.

I now need to sandwich both of them, and I still have the One Block Wonder quilt top to finish before June 7... really glad we have a holiday coming up - weekends only give me so much time to work on everything. But at least DH is occupied again now that the PlayStation Network is back up and running!!!

MCQG Mystery Quilt, part 5

We're halfway through May, and once again, I've almost forgotten to post the blocks from the mystery quilt. These are clues 5a and 5b in three different variations. I just finished making the blocks for clue 6, need to make a minor adjustment to the instructions (why I should ALWAYS make blocks from the instructions I write - to check for errors!).

The desert at dusk

Have I mentioned how much I love the colors in this design? LOVE them!

Stacked Coins baby quilt top #1

I finished the quilt top yesterday, and today began piecing the backing together (plus I had to run to Joann's to get the batting).

I still have SO much to do this month!!!

Edited to add a picture of the pieced backing for this quilt. It's hanging over the top, so the top sort of shows through, but I won't have to worry about that when I get it sandwiched together with the batting.

Precision Piecing - Baskets with Sally Collins

My quilt guild hosted national teacher Sally Collins this week, and I took one of her classes on precision piecing today. These little gems finish at 1 7/8" square (they are 2 3/8" with the seam allowance as shown).

We all had a lot of fun in the class and learned good processes to follow that can be put into practice in our larger quilt blocks too, not just miniatures. I don't think I'll be making a miniature quilt any time soon, but I do think these would make great pincushions with a border or two... :)

Moonlit Kitties, day 9

I've been working on the lower left corner, trying to finish it out before I move on to the right side. We have a pumpkin!

Autumn Fairy, part 1

Finished last night, with the exception of the Volcano Dorado Swarovski heart bead - I have looked at my local bead shop and online, and have yet to find this color... :/

Spring Fairy, part 1

Here is the beautiful part 1 of Spring Fairy, finished last night (click for a larger image). When I was just stitching the DMC, it looked delicate, but almost washed-out. Now that the silks and beads are stitched, that has really changed! It's very vibrant and colorful, yet still a little delicate. I love the teardrop in the middle.

Moonlit Kitties, day 8

I've almost finished the left side, except for the pumpkins at the bottom. I added a little backstitching in last night too.

My Desert Landscapes Mandala and Spring Fairy silks and beads arrived today! Can't wait to pull them out of the bag and play with them tonight. :)

A Chatelaine stitching weekend

Martina released the supply list just before the first part of Autumn Fairy, so I ordered the silks and picked up the beads at my LBS (Be Dazzled), then pulled the DMC floss from my stash. She released the chart Sunday morning, so I printed it out and got down to business. I haven't added any beads yet, because of the position of the silks / specialty stitches, but here is all of the DMC stitched on Autumn Fairy part 1.

I also managed to finish stitching the rest of the border and DMC floss on Spring Fairy, and my kit is finally on its way (should arrive this week), so I should be able to finish part 1 soon.

And once I finished those, I picked up Desert Mandala once again and worked on it until it was time to go to bed.

I will probably work on Moonlit Kitties again tonight, swapping between that and Desert Mandala for the next few evenings (unless I can get into the sewing room and work on some quilts, but that isn't likely until the weekend). I did manage to get the One Block Wonder columns pieced 2 x 2. It takes a while to match all those points. But I worked on it while listening to my latest book obsession - the In Death series by J.D. Robb.
