Spring Fairy, Part 5

Just one more part to go now ! Here are a couple of closeups of Part 5, then the entire design so far.

I think I'll go ahead and start stitching the tree. I'm very excited to be so close to happy dancing!

A little spookier house

I've made some more progress on Spooky House over the last week or so. The moon is a little fuller, and the house has some windows filled in.

Now I'm back to working on Spring Fairy, part 5. This is just a small border at the bottom of the design, so it shouldn't take too long to stitch it up.

Close to being finished

I've finally gotten the binding made and attached it to the front of the Feathered Fantasy quilt. Now I'm slowly hand-sewing it to the back of the quilt. Not sure if I'll work on this until it's finished - it just depends on my mood, but it won't be long now, even if I stitch on other things and the binding intermittently. I had enough of the backing fabric to use it as binding also, and it goes really well with the front of the quilt as well.

Super Third Saturday

Okay, so I picked up my block of the month last Saturday, but I didn't get it stitched up until today. The pieces have been lying on my ironing board all week, but they're finally together now. Here is Chocolate Peppermint Crunch. Now I'm hungry. :)

Around the World in 80 Stitches, Part 4

Part 4 has been released, and I've just finished stitching it. Here is the full design so far, and a closeup of part 4.

Spring Fairy, Parts 3 and 4

I really meant to take a photo when part 3 was finished, but then I barreled right on into part 4, and didn't want to take it out of the q-snaps until that was also completed. Of course, it took me a lot longer than I thought it would to finish part 4. That's the thing about Chatelaine designs. They are so beautiful because they are SO intricate. There were regular stitches, then specialty stitches, then back stitches, then beads and crystals, then I realized I had more backstitching to do, and the backstitching of the leaves nearly did my poor little fingers in. I do okay when I'm backstitching in the regular holes that are used when cross stitching, but when one has to split stitches, it's a lot more tedious for me (and hard on the hands). But it's so beautiful.

So here is part 3, the over-one ornaments. There are 6 of them - 4 of the floral pictured on the left, and 2 of the fern pictured on the right. Of course, there are mirror images for either side, but I just focused on up-close shots of 2 of them.

And here is part 4, the medallion.

Here is the entire design so far.

Fingertip Towel

I went to Joann's on the fourth of July to buy some backing and binding fabrics for the quilt I'm making (no, it isn't to that stage yet, but I am getting closer) for Carolyn, and wandered over to the cross stitch supplies.  I picked up 2 colors of DMC Variations perle cotton, and decided to finally stitch up the fingertip towel that was a make-it-and-take-it at my LNS' Moonlight Stitch over a year ago.  I originally was going to use the color that she gave us, but decided to go with colors to match my kitchen instead.

We ran over to The Cat Shoppe about a month ago and picked up a new scratching pad for our babies.  Stilts has claimed this one as hers.  It's like her little chaise or something. :)

Whoa, we're halfway through 2012!

While it definitely feels like we're in the middle of summer with the heatwave here, it surprised me to have to turn the page of the calendar and realize we're halfway through this year.

I worked a little more on In the Garden after putting Autumn Fairy back away, and I made it to the upper right corner of the design.

Now I've pulled Spring Fairy back out, and I realized that I hadn't finished the over-1 ornaments on it either, the last time I worked on it! So I've spent the last couple of days diligently working on those, and I've just started the medallion. A little more progress and I'll share another photo of it. The colors are so soft compared to Autumn, and I love the contrast of the two. I'm not all that keen on either Winter or Summer, so I won't be stitching those designs. Leaves more time for everything else, right? :)
