7th pink one!

And the last pink hexie block is pieced. Now I'll need to trim them all square and add their borders. The blue hexie-making is underway.

Making blue hexies

I found this fabric in the fat quarters at the Stitcher's Garden quilt shop in Franklin last summer. I thought it was perfect to use in the blue blocks for Over the Rainbow. The mug was a Christmas gift from a long-time friend, and doesn't it all just go to reinforce my crazy cat lady status? Happily!

Celtic Mystery alternate blocks

I had some good sewing time Tuesday evening and this morning to put all of these blocks together. They're ready to start assembling. Of course, I couldn't help myself and started assembling without the design wall, but I've only sewn two together, and I can rearrange them when I get closer to really putting them into rows.

It's still a little bright and out of my usual color scheme comfort, so I'm still waiting until it's all together for final judgment.

Sixth pink hexie block

Here she is, #6!

I've just started on #7, and know that I need to get to preparing my next set of hexie colors. I asked my husband to pick which color I should do next (blue, green, yellow, orange, or red), and he chose blue. He doesn't want to learn to quilt, but he likes participating where he can. :)

One thing I haven't packed away yet is my fabrics (they are already in plastic containers, and I will probably just move them in my car, precious as they are). :) That means I can actually pull out a few and make some new hexies without having to wait until we are moved.

One more quick update

Here are 10 more blocks for High Cotton, so I now have 90 of 100 blocks pieced. When I get the sewing room set back up after we move, I plan to pull out all the blocks and see what colors I need most (or what would go well with what I have already), and then cut 5 more sets out, then that quilt will be ready to put together.

I'm still here!

I've just been consumed with pack-and-purge. But I have been able to stitch just a smidge, so here are two progress photos I have to share.

The first is my Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice Mystery - I have half of the blocks pieced, and am about ready to start on the alternate blocks. I do still have one sewing machine set up, so I can do a little piecing on projects which are already cut and ready to put together.

The second is Hex on the Beach. I finally finished row three and began row four last night.

Expect for the updates to be sporadic until after we move and settle in (mid-late February). Until then, fingers crossed that all goes well with everything that leads up to and includes closing on both the sale and purchase of both houses! We are both looking forward to life calming down again. I have to keep reminding myself that we chose to do this, so we just need to breathe through it. :) Stay tuned!

Finally, block 3

I have finally finished block 3 of A Rainbow Garden. Because of everything I've had going on (plus focusing a lot on Bonnie's Celtic Solstice Mystery), it feels like this block too forever to finish.

But it's done now, and I can prep the next block as soon as I'm ready.

This week is going to be pretty busy, so I'm not sure when I'll be getting some more stitching in, but hopefully I'll get a few in here and there. Fingers crossed that things will settle down come March - that's what we're working towards, anyway! :)

Pink Hexies Number 5

To the tune of Mambo No. 5 that is now going through my brain:

Because I haven't yet packed this project away - it's nice and portable. :)

Celtic Solstice: the blocks

Sorry for my recent absence! As I mentioned previously, life has gotten crazy around here the last few weeks. We decided to put our house up for sale, listed it the day after Christmas, and have had 12 showings in 12 days. We are planning to move a little closer to family, so it will probably continue to be hectic for a little while.

I have made two of each block for Celtic Solstice, and here they are:

A little brighter than I was hoping, the red and yellow really seem to clash to me. Ah well, I did change my colors from Bonnie's, and sometimes that works better than others. I do plan to go ahead and finish putting it all together, and I'm hopeful that it will calm down as the top is pieced.

Check out all the other progress photos on Bonnie's Link-Up!
