On the design wall

Now that Jared is finished, I decided to spend a little time in my sewing room while CC played his new video game. I pulled out my Celtic Solstice blocks and sewed them into rows (the rows still need to be sewn together). I also pieced a few of the border blocks together, to see how they are going to look. I do not have an inner border fabric picked out yet, but Bonnie recommended a neutral print (to go with the neutral in the blocks, I'm assuming), so I will probably choose something like that. I may go with a somewhat colored print - not sure yet. Ideas are percolating. I also haven't decided on the outer border yet. Bonnie recommended green in her quilt, and I used green in the same pieces, so I will probably try to find something that fits with that (a green with a little maroon and purple print might be interesting).

I also wanted to share my first blue hexie block pieced. I have started on the second one, and have pieced a couple hexies together at a time to get these blocks going again.

I seem to be doing okay with sewing at the machine and some hand sewing, plus a little pressing, but I haven't tackled rotary cutting yet. I'll need to be able to do that in order to make some progress on a couple of other quilts I really want to work on soon. Perhaps in a couple of weeks. I'll be able to use my Sizzix to cut the strips for the border on Celtic Solstice, so that's very helpful.
