Now that the holidays are over, and with the encouragement of a knit-along with Haus of Yarn, I have cast on a new top-down sweater. Actually, I cast it on the day after Christmas, after having made a gauge swatch with the yarn. I was so anxious to get this started, the yarn is so soft (it's alpaca!), and the pattern is so appealing to me. After a few false starts, I finally got the garter ridge collar started that evening, and I've tried to knit on it every day since.
I just separated for the sleeves today. Now the top patterning is done, and there will be a lot of stockinette stitch left to do, but I've tried it on and I'm very happy with the way it's fitting so far.
My knitting companion Stilts has been on a little diet for the past several months, and we're happy to report she's lost 2 pounds - down to a healthier 10.5 pounds.
Other than getting this sweater finished by the end of February (and hopefully finishing the baby blanket by that time also), I have no other goals for this year - I plan to take it as it comes and enjoy every moment.
