Doodle-head Stitches Episode 12

Thanks for watching!

Show Notes

Knitting: I finished weaving in the ends on my Sea Dragon Shawl and I love, love, love it!

I also finished Zuzu's Petals.

My Hitchhiker shawl has 31 of 42 teeth now, so I met my goal of 1 pattern repeat per week.

My Hiro sweater has some progress - I've made it to the first waist decrease.

I started two more new knitting projects! Some Vineyard Lace Mitts that will be a holiday gift, and a Be With You shawl for me (with beads! yes!).

Quilting: The Jungle Baby quilt backing is pieced. Now to sandwich it together with batting and the top and get it ready to quilt.

I also finished piecing in the background diamonds for block 15 of 16 of Eldon. So close to piecing the top together now!

Crochet: I found my crochet hook that I had misplaced! I also added 3 squares to my Sock Scraps Granny Square blanket.

Cross Stitch: My kitty has a face in Feathered Friends. It was in its project bag where I found my lost crochet hook too - absolutely no idea why I put it in there.

Miscellany: My favorite coffee ever comes from Bean Central coffee roasters. My favorite flavors (I get the decaf) are Vanilla Nut and Pumpkin Spice.

Happy crafting!

Doodle-head Stitches Episode 11

Thanks for watching!

Show Notes

Knitting: I finished my Sea Dragon Shawl except for weaving in the ends. Ends are my nemesis it seems... I have to force myself to weave them in so that I can actually wear my beautiful shawl!

I also shared my progress on my Hitchhiker shawl and Monkey socks.

I started not just one, but two new knitting projects! A new sweater called Hiro, and Zuzu's Petals, which is a cowl / shawlette hybrid and uses a pretty gradient sport weight yarn.

Quilting: The Jungle Baby quilt top is pieced. Now to figure out what I'm going to do for the backing.

The borders of the blue Over the Rainbow hexagon blocks are finished, and I'm on to piecing the first green hexie block.

I also finished piecing in the background diamonds for block 14 of 16 of Eldon.

Crochet: No crochet progress this week.

Cross Stitch: I'm still working on Part 4 of Chatelaine's Desert Landscapes Mandala. I stitched some of the beaded snake and I love how it looks.

Miscellany: We are slowly introducing into the household a new kitty, Pepé - she's an indoor / outdoor cat, and she belongs to a neighbor but spends a lot of time at our house. It's a challenge with the existing girls, but I'm hoping we can work it out. :) And CC and I are spending time playing a new-to-us game called Borderlands. It's one that we can play local co-op, and I'm getting used to the first-person-shooter gameplay. It's another good stress-reliever.

Happy crafting!

Doodle-head Stitches Episode 10, Two Happy Dances

Thanks for watching!

Show Notes

Knitting: I finished my Stella shawl! I also started and finished a beaded knit Pioneer Cuff.

I have knit over half of the final of six colors in the gradient Seven Sisters Yarns used in my Sea Dragon Shawl by Ambah. I'm hoping to finish it before the next podcast episode.

Quilting: The Jungle Baby quilt blocks are pieced, and now I just need to lay them out and start sewing them together.

I also finished piecing all of the blue hexagons for the 7th block, and have trimmed all blue blocks square. I'm now adding borders before I move on to the green hexies.

I broke down and purchased a new appliqué die - I want to make a Butterflies quilt. I also got some Batik layer cakes which might be used to make the butterfly quilt. Edyta also shows in a video how to use the die to make a butterfly block.

Crochet: My Scrappy Sock Yarn Granny Square Blanket now has 58 attached blocks, with many more ready to be attached.

If you're interested in the Susan Bates crochet hook changes, there is some interesting information at Ultimate Crochet Hook Review: Susan Bates controversy. Ambassador Crochet has a good write-up of the differences on the Change in Susan Bates Hook Design blog post. Susan Bates silvalume crochet hooks have been my favorite, and I am definitely not happy to learn that they have changed them. I will be much more careful with the ones I have (not to lose them).

Cross Stitch: I'm working on Part 4 of Chatelaine's Desert Landscapes Mandala. I really want to finish this section before moving on to a different cross stitch project.

Miscellany: Mom and Dad stopped by the Fiestaware outlet (Homer Laughlin China Company) on a recent trip they took, and they brought us some souvenirs - this is perfect!
